Wavy Alabaster

Hi.

Welcome to my blog. Read, sip and stay awhile. Cheers.

I love unwrapping a meaningful gift. Even better is watching another unwrap a gift overflowing with meaning. A gift that connects to a memory worth remembering. A gift that produces an organic smile. A gift that highlights a specific personality quirk unique to that individual. A running note is kept in my phone in order nail the perfect present for my loved ones. But, life it is not perfect. Sometimes that note, which you so habitually kept throughout the year, just disappears never to be recovered again. And, yes, I have checked the cloud. If that has happened to you, I am sorry, grab a whiskey and we will get through this together. Or, maybe have waited until the single digit countdown to start shopping. Either way, this gift guide is for you. Let's carpe diem this season by seizing the perfect gift.

A GIFT FOR...

For those who receive pajamas every year: Union suit. Google it. Just make sure there is a butt flap. Shop here and here

The Traveler: Someone who travels constantly relies on luggage, duffle bags, and backpacks to keep their personal belongings in one organized piece. You may not be able to afford the perfect stylish wheeled suitcase, but you can personalize what they currently tote around.  Check out my favorite luggage tags: Mexicana painted luggage tag from Cleobella , personalized leather luggage tag from RSVP Handcrafted, wooden luggage tag from Flexiwood

For the fit:  Do me a favor and check out Strideline. A passionate company started by two gentlemen, Riley and Jake, right out of high school. They set out to make the highest quality athletic crew sock and I'd say they nailed it. They graciously sent me their Steel City View Yellow, Strapped Fit sock to giveaway to yinz! If you have a man or woman who loves to stay fit while flaunting their city pride, this comfortable, high performance beauty is a must-have.

One (1) winner will be randomly selected Monday, December 21st. See end of post for full rules.

The Instagram Mogel: Download the Print Studio app or check it online. Developed by some passionate folks out in San Francisco, this small company prints your memories with a lot of love at a little cost. Bring Instagram captures and your camera roll to life! Of all the products offered, my favorite option is the 3x3 square magnets. Folks always have spare room for magnets in their home, apartment, dorm room, etc.

The Classic: Choose from the following selection of record players and then the real fun begins. Shopping for used vinyl records is one of my favorite pastimes. It is therapeutic. You can reconnect with past decades and experiment with new genres and bands without breaking the bank. There is something pure about listening to this raw, stripped down take on music. Hands down the best place to shop for vinyl records is Jerry's Records in Squirrel Hill. Bring some cash and lock down an hour of your time. It will be the most enjoyable Holiday shopping experience of the season.

The Goof: This idea is courtesy of my husband. Buy a 2016 calendar that is classified as "sexy" or "seductive" such as Studs n' Spurs Calendar  or Pin Up Calendar. Now, find the most epic, funny, awkward photos of your face. Crop and print those pictures. Ensure the prints are directly proportional to the body of men or women gracing each month of the calendar. Glue your face over his or her face, simple. This is a gift guaranteed to provide endless laughter all year long.

The Secret Santa: Stunners of the Month. This gift never fails me. Depending on the amount you would like to spend, sign up your lucky giftee for a three, six or twelve month Stunner of the Month membership. Then, each month, your giftee will be sent an epic, trendy pair of sunglasses.

The Patriotic: In God We Must has the sickest rings. If you have love for a specific state through an adventure or building a home or just passing through, the double-sided state quarter ring is a must.

The Stylish: Shopping vintage is not only fun, but it produces a very individualistic gift. It may require a bit more time than your normal run into a department store, but it is worth it in the end. Check out your local vintage joint and sift through their tie clips, brooches, silk scarves, bolo ties. Some of my favorite vintage Eons Fashion Antique, Three Rivers Vintage, Hey Betty! Vintage, and Highway Robbery Vintage

The Heartfelt: Love notes are powerful. Whether the words are a quick scribble on a grocery receipt or thoughtful vows repeated in front of family and friends, love in written form leaves a permanent stamp. Check out this wallet sized hand stamped copper by Simply Yours By Design. Whether propped up on a desk as a powerful reminder or slipped into a wallet to receive secret glances, this is a love note upgraded. Shop here.

Happy gifting!
